Question by Salvation: nu.cyu.ler dis.truk.on GOP 2012: Is it possible to buy a data-ONLY cell plan from a service provider?
The purpose is to use the phone as an internet tablet for messaging and checking messages, since I don’t make many calls anyway, but also use a VoIP application over such a data plan when I do wish to make a call. Using VoIP over a data plan could overall save money, but that was an afterthought in my case albeit an attractive notion.

I’ve heard AT&T is offering a 20$ prepaid data plan, but as it’s ending in November I need to consider other options.

Best answer:

Answer by Andrew K
yes certain carriers do offer data only plans for certain cell phones. I know verizon does for all there blackberries and PDA style phones

Their main task is to take calls from off the Internet and to deliver them to regular phones, technically referred to as PSTN. Many seek VoIP opportunities to become a termination provider because of the low investment and high rewards associated with this line of business.

Question by Scorcher117: Is there a free voip provider for my computer?
i do know that free can be very rarely found, but i was just wondering. Is there something similar to skype, that can make landline and mobile calling for free? I want it to make calls from my computer and was looking for a service that can do it for free without many strings. I tried VoipCheap, and read up and found that you can only make calls one minute long or you will be charged, and i mean, I want to avoid strings like that so….any help?
talkster doesnt seem to able to make landline or mobile calls, and thats what i want
ok, well so much for a free provider….do you have any suggestions for a really cheap but good one? i mean skype is good, but anything else?

Best answer:

Answer by Roger Vadim
try www.talkster.com

there is really nothing good out there….not for VoIP anyway, most free ones have to many restrictions on them….more like a free SIP service…ans with most you cant call cell phones at all!

yes, I know….there are no free calls to cell-phones…try voice.yahoo.com there are cheap….! but its the same old think, ya gotta download the software….I use Packet8 for all my stuff..

voice.yahoo.com is good and cheap, and you can call cellphones….also use a webcam….I also have skype for some of my friends abroad…

Best answer:

Answer by Carl N
Yep. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It’s only served by Verizon 570-676 and Telcove of Pa 570-252 Telcove was bought by Level 3 So, try calling Vonage and ask if you can get dial tone in 570-252. There should be a Level 3 wholesaler who can give you service.

Pervasip’s wholly owned subsidiary, VoX Communications, a leading provider of wholesale Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone services and cloud based computing, has announced that it will launch the much anticipated iPhone iOS 5 VoX Mobile App. The report comes after a steep rise in demand for VoX Communications’ products & services and just in time after Sprint told CNET that it had made select network improvements to better handle the iPhone. “Sprint is the latest carrier to nab the iPhone, having just started selling the iPhone 4 a few days before the iPhone 4S launched in October. The company has said that customer satisfaction with the phone has been among the highest that it has received on any high-end device,” according to Roger Cheng, a senior writer for CNET covering mobile technology. With the addition of Sprint to the iPhone lineup, the VoX Mobile iPhone App can be downloaded regardless if you’re with Sprint, At&t, or Verizon. To make things better, the App can also be downloaded for use on the iPod Touch, that when paired with VoX Mobile for iOS, it can prove to be a true cost efficient telephony mobile device. VoX Mobile’s Android App starts at .95 and that includes your very own telephone number of your choice. Users can chose a phone number for the state they reside in or any other state in North America including Canada, at no extra charge. We anticipate pricing to remain unchanged, although VoX Communications has considered several …

Hello,

Thanks for checking out my question.

I am looking for a telephone service provider – traditional or VOIP – that can block local/long distance and international calls when that caller’s number is in a given list of numbers OR when that call is from a private number.

My definition of “block” is when the call can’t reach your phone nor your voice-mail.

Anyone know of a provider that has such a service?

I am with Sprint, and they can block local/long distance phone numbers from a given list but NOT private calls, which is kind of stupid since the caller can simply block their numbers when calling. Hence, I am looking for another provider.

Thanks in advance. Any info would be much appreciated.
Also, are there any VOIP providers that have SMS/text service?

Best answer:

Answer by Carl N
My VoIP provider has anonymous call rejection and you can create a list of numbers to block.
It seems that just about anybody with VoIP service can do that, but maybe not. Try http://www.8×8.com but be sure to check out phone power.
