Telecom providers are also ISPs..remember? The cost of a VOIP service is just a bit lower than the actual calling through regular lines..its the taxes and tarrifs of the various network that make it expensive..so in future things can be worked out. Secondly..privacy is a big issue with VOIP.
lastly, emergency services cannot be called using VOIP services.

  2. The emergency calls will be handled by VOIP in the future, if it is required by the market.

The telecom service will lower prices. They have all the investments done already and the VOIP companies cannot match their existent network. They will do everything that is necessary to win more money and they will not go bankrupt.

They have the power and no one can match the money they earned until now and get them out of the market.

To our benefit the prices will go down but gain more users and be as profitable as it was.
