This method can be implemented with free or very affordable software that is offered by several companies. This method will only require the use of a fast Internet connection through a cable connection or DSL modem, sound card, microphone, and speakers. However, the user will have to pay a monthly fee to the ISP.
Since there is plenty of free VoIP software on the Internet, a user will not have a problem trying VoIP. You can download the software and set it up in under five minutes. You can test the VoIP connection by inviting a friend to download and setup the same software. Then you and your friend can attempt to talk to each other through your VoIP connection.
There are many phone companies that are streamlining their networks by utilizing VoIP. They can reduce the bandwidth that they are using for long hauls by routing their phone calls with IP getaway and circuit switch. After the phone calls are received by the getaway, the other side will route, reassemble, and decompress the phone calls in a local circuit switch.
The circuit-switched networks that we have today are being replaced by packet-switching networks. Packet-switching networks will retrieve and send data when it is necessary. They will not route data through a dedicated line. Instead, they allow data packets to travel through chaotic networks that have numerous possible paths.
